CASE STUDY: Sparkle Nails

The beauty industry was and is one of many industries severely impacted by lockdown. Sparkle Nails, based in Birmingham, was one such business which fell into the closure category. Unfortunately, the business had no choice but to close its doors at the beginning of lockdown 1, and now also as part of lockdown 2. 

Due to the pandemic, the salon couldn’t offer its customers the usual beauty treatments and nail art until lockdown was lifted. But they could still push the sale of their beauty products online. This provided the opportunity for customers to purchase items via the website from the safety of their own homes. 

 

The nail salon also needed to improve its general search presence in the local area and improve its overall user experience ready for lockdown lifting. 

The result was a website design which has been designed to feel elegant, modern, and fresh. It’s no longer difficult to navigate and is now a clear and concise portrayal of the business’s brand and service offering. 

 

We opted for big bold imagery for the header background. We chose parallax rollovers and well thought-out functionality, all of which have made the website more visually engaging for the user. We also ensured the incorporation of the beauty salon’s branding through its logo, font, and brand-specific icons. The shop element features clean dashed borders for clear structure and differentiation between sections. 

We have seen a massive increase in businesses opting for an ecommerce website to help drive website traffic rather than footfall in-store. However, the upturn has not just been a result of selling online, it’s also given many businesses the opportunity to re-evaluate their online presence. Businesses are now seeing much more value in adopting the new approach to shopping. It’s given all involved more insight into today’s digital age and the importance of adapting to changing trends and needs.
