From January 2026, every new it’seeze website will be designed and built on our brand new Lightning platform. It is the fastest and most secure technology we have ever created, and it is designed for one clear purpose: to give local businesses the kind of website performance usually reserved for big brands with big budgets.
We will be rolling this out to businesses in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, and we are excited about what it means for our clients and for our own team.
Why we built Lightning
Most websites fail quietly in the background. Pages take too long to load, visitors get frustrated, and nobody ever mentions it, they simply click away.
Around half of visitors will leave if a page takes more than three seconds to load.
Nearly nine out of ten people will not come back after a bad online experience.
That is a lot of lost enquiries, bookings and sales.
Lightning has been engineered to solve exactly that problem. Our new platform has been independently tested using Google PageSpeed Insights and consistently achieves scores between 90 and 100 for page speed. In practice, that means pages load almost instantly, so more visitors stay on your website and are more likely to become customers.
At the same time, we have completely rebuilt the editing system so that updating your site is quicker and simpler. This is good news for you and for us, as it means we can work more efficiently behind the scenes and spend more time on what really matters, such as design, content and strategy.
Faster than WordPress and DIY website builders
Lightning has been designed to outperform traditional platforms such as WordPress and most DIY builders such as Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy.
With platforms like WordPress, you usually have to manage plugins, updates and security patches yourself. Those plugins and themes can slow your site down, restrict what you can do with your design and sometimes introduce security vulnerabilities.
DIY builders often look simple on the surface, but the code behind them is rarely optimised for serious performance. Once you add apps, large images, video and extra features, page speed can suffer.
Lightning is different:
Every site is professionally designed from scratch, with no off the shelf templates.
There are no third party plugins for you to manage.
The platform automatically looks after performance, updates and security for you.
Our system optimises the elements that make up each page, such as images, fonts and code, and carefully controls the order they are loaded. The result is a website that feels almost instant for your customers.
Every second faster can increase conversions by up to 20 per cent, so speed really does matter for your bottom line.
A simpler, smarter editor
One of the biggest upgrades in Lightning is the editing experience.
If you can type an email, you can edit your Lightning website. The built in editor lets you:
Update text and images
Add new pages
Change your opening hours
Adjust calls to action and offers
All of this can be done in a few clicks, without needing a developer or extra plugins.
Lightning also includes an integrated AI writer. This can help you create new content faster, whether that is a new service page, a blog post or an update to your homepage. You stay in control of the message, but the AI gives you a head start so you are never stuck staring at a blank screen.
Designed to grow with your business
Your website should not stand still while your business grows.
Lightning has built in features, known as Lightning Bolts, that you can add as you need them. These include:
Online bookings
Customer reviews
Social media feeds
Additional apps and integrations
You can start with a simple site and then add more functionality over time. Your website evolves as quickly as your business does, without needing to start again from scratch.
What this means for new and existing customers
From January 2026, all new it’seeze websites will be created on the Lightning platform. This applies to all packages, including shop sites, which we plan to launch at the same time.
If you are an existing customer, your current website will not automatically move to Lightning, as it is a completely new framework. However, you will be able to order a redesign on Lightning through the usual process if you want to upgrade to the new platform.
Most future editing system updates will be focused on Lightning, although existing customers will still benefit from general improvements where possible.
There is one more important detail. Prices on all packages will increase from 1 April 2026. This makes the period between January and March 2026 an excellent time for new customers to sign up, and for existing customers to consider a redesign, before the new pricing comes in.

Quick answers to common questions
How fast will my website be?
Lightning websites typically score between 90 and 100 on Google PageSpeed Insights, which is the industry standard tool for measuring web performance. If you only use built in it’seeze features and avoid heavy third party add ons, your site should keep a very high score.
Is the speed score guaranteed for life?
No platform can promise that. If a site is heavily modified after launch with large videos, oversized images or external scripts, the score can drop. We will guide you on best practice so you can keep your site performing at its best.
Is Lightning secure enough for my customer data?
Yes. All Lightning sites are SSL encrypted, backed up regularly and updated automatically by our technical team. The platform has been designed with enterprise level protection in mind.
Will I still get support?
Absolutely. You still receive ongoing, local support from your it’seeze consultant, backed by our UK based design and technical teams. Think of us as your in house web department, without the cost of hiring staff.
