Designing an Impactful Website for Dementia Action Alliance
At it'seeze Websites Birmingham, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, bespoke web design solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. Recently, we had the privilege of working with Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin to develop a new website that would enhance their mission of raising awareness about dementia and providing valuable information to the community.

Understanding the Challenge

Dementia Action Alliance approached us with a significant challenge. Their existing website was difficult to edit, hindering their ability to provide up-to-date information and resources on dementia care. The website's design was also not user-friendly, limiting its effectiveness in engaging its audience and promoting its cause.

The Initial Consultation

We initiated the project with a video call to understand DAA's requirements and vision for their new website. During this call, we discussed their design brief in detail. The DAA team provided examples of websites they admired, highlighting the features, layouts, and colour schemes they found appealing. They emphasized the importance of using their existing colours—bold green, teal, purple, and white—and integrating their logo to maintain brand consistency.

Additionally, DAA needed a website package that was within their budget but still offered the functionalities they required. They wanted a simple yet effective layout that was easy to navigate, allowed for document downloads, included a contact form, had links to their social media channels, and showcased beautiful imagery related to dementia awareness.

Designing the Website

With a clear understanding of DAA's needs, our team got to work. We aimed to create a website that was not only visually appealing but also highly functional and easy to manage. Over the next four weeks, we designed a website aligned perfectly with DAA's vision.

Key Design Elements

Colour Scheme and Branding: We utilized DAA's original colours—bold green, teal, purple, and white—to ensure the website remained true to its brand identity. These colours were incorporated throughout the site to create a cohesive and visually pleasing experience.
User-Friendly Layout: The website features a simple and intuitive layout. This ensures visitors can easily navigate through different sections, find information quickly, and access resources without hassle.
Document Downloads: To support DAA's mission of providing valuable information, we integrated a section where visitors can download important documents. This includes guides, brochures, and other resources related to dementia care.
Contact Form: We included a straightforward contact form that allows visitors to contact DAA easily. This feature is essential for facilitating communication between the organization and the community it serves.
Social Media Links: Recognizing the importance of social media in raising awareness, we added links to DAA's social media profiles. This encourages visitors to connect with DAA on various platforms and stay updated with their activities.
Imagery: We carefully selected and incorporated beautiful imagery that resonates with DAA's mission. These images not only enhance the visual appeal of the website but also convey the importance of dementia awareness and care.

Collaborative Review and Launch

Once the initial design was complete, we shared the website with the DAA team for their feedback. We scheduled another video call to review the site together, allowing us to make real-time edits based on their input. This collaborative approach ensured that the final product met their expectations and included all necessary elements.

The DAA team was thrilled with the new website. They appreciated the ease of navigation, the ability to make documents available for download, and the overall aesthetic that aligned with their brand. Most importantly, they were pleased with how easy it was to edit the website. This newfound flexibility allows them to keep the site updated with fresh content, ensuring visitors always have access to the latest information on dementia care.
